Extra skipped space between the paragraphs in one subsection only

There is only one sub-section in the document, where there is extra space between the paragraphs. The sub-sections before and after do not have any extra space. I did not add anything different for paragraph spacing in this sub-section, and in general do not have anything specifying paragraph spacing in the document.

The sub-section begins at the top of page and ends exactly at the bottom.

Is LaTeX inserting extra paragraph spacing to try to keep the sub-section "whole page"?

Is that behaviour configurable and can I turn it off?
